Dana, according to my calipers, the metal on my canopy is about 1/16" thick (including the paint) and the insulation is about 9/16" thick.

Thanks for the info. Now I just need to find some insulation. Can you see your loader bucket when all the way up?

Yes. Incidentally, the diamond plate aluminum was the same price, if I'd wanted it, but I don't have any idea what the weight difference might me, never thought to ask.

HEY, Guys
Just ordered a new fiberglass canopy from my dealer. $245.00 for a canopy and hardware for a 790. They originally wanted to sell me a ABS plastic one for $495.00. Did a little research and found a company in eastern Tennessee that makes canopies of all types(Aluminum diamond plate, Fiberglass and ABS) for all types of tractors. (Yup, that means you Blue, Orange and Red guys, too. Called the CO. and they told me that they only sold to Dealers. I told them I had just talked to the dealer and the only thing they could get me was ABS. They took my tele. number and within 15 minutes, low and behold, the JD dealer calls back and tells me I CAN GET the fiberglass. Not to mention it was almost half price./w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif Weel, thanks for your great advice and happy snow plowing!

smilingreen,
Can you give a little more info (name, phone#) on the company that makes the canopy? I'd like to see if my JD dealer can get one for my 4400 through them.

Hoss,
Check out their site. Its not very fancy, but they do build a very nice canopy. http://www.tel-trax.com The sell only though dealers. Your dealer should be able to order one for you. If they cannot get it, call teltrax directly and they will contact your local dealer for you. Nice people.

I was just curious about where you are in relation to tel trax. Do you know how much shipping your dealer had to pay. I had one all set up until I saw your post. Their price was $375 for my Kubota b7500. I'm just trying to figure out how much of the $130 higher I was quoted would be for additional shipping and how much is for dealer profit.

Jeff,
I live about 1 1/2 hours away from the factory in Tennessee. Their own truck comes by and delivers in this area. That is one factor. The second factor is I have purchased 2 John Deeres in the past three years from the dealer and have purchased multiple implements from them and they always do the service on all my tractors. The owner knows me by name and can even recite my address to me without looking it up. Sometimes, it pays to support 1 dealer if he is a good one. They also give me a great deal on my implements. Not too bad of a deal.

I'm betting the shipping is a big part of it. My dealership is in central NC. It's gotta cost a few bucks to ship something that large and heavy so far. Oh well, I thought I might be able to save a buck or two if I shopped around a bit. I feel better about it now that I know why you got the smokin' good price. Now I just can't decide if I'd like the color coordinated fiberglass or the bullitproof diamond plate. They both look great!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
