Field fence unroller

This is another of my father-in-laws ideas. We needed to fence in 2 acres with field fence to contain some goats. The fencing is 48" high and comes in 330' rolls. Heavy. So we welded a pipe to a round plate, then tack welded the plate to the FEL forks. We then could secure the fence to a corner post then just back the tractor down the fence row. The only problem we had was the FEL would not tilt down enough to insert the fence roll onto the spindle. So we had to use another tractor to pick up the roll and put it on the spindle.

I like your FILs idea. I have a fencing job coming up and planned to use field fence like yours. I will modify the idea slightly since I have the quick attach feature on my FEL. I will put the fencing holder on my pallet forks before I attach them to the tractor. That way I can use the 3pt boom to lift the fencing and place it on the spindle. I can then hook into the pallet forks and away we go.

Welcome, we need another East Texas member. I like your idea and may steal it for a fencing job we have coming up this spring but you know us TBNers, we'll tinker with it and modify it. Thanks for the idea.

Thanks for the replies. The thing was a spur of the moment idea. We're thinking of adding some rails under the plate so that we can slide the spindle on and off the forks.

While you're considering modifications think about this. You can unroll the wire either side of the fence and it's a one man operation.

Here's one that is made commercially, but don't have any idea who it's made by. This one attaches to the 3pt hitch though, it's just laying on its side.
