I snapped the joy stick into float every time this morning scraping the driveway of the slush/ice. Don't know why the guy who delivered it didn't show me how to do it. The manual just tells you it's there, as does that emblem on the tractor fender, not how to "snap" it into being.

That's great.

Having the bucket level is probably the best, but you can also "float" with the bucket at different angles.
As a side note, I often grade my driveway in the summertime going backwards using float with the bucket at about a 45 degree angle.

Great! I think you'll find it very useful.

I second Richard's use for grading. Except when I have large rocks caught under the FEL, it works great a 30 to 45 deg.'s for back dragging sand, gravel, and the like. A rear blade works well for initial grading but, the FEL in float, in reverse does the smoothest job if the material is relatively dry and small diameter.

However, be very careful backdragging near any soft edge...I went tires up, green down, trying to get too close.
