John Deere 790
We just recently bought a John Deere 790 compact tractor and I was going through all the fluids and checking them to make sure they all topped off. I noticed a little dipstick on the front axle of the tractor which I'm guessing is for the front differential fluid. I just would like some help on knowing what kind of oil I use for the front diff. It says on the cap "oil type #90" is that what I use and where is the fill hole to put this stuff? Much help would be appreciated.

:welcome:

Use # 90 and put it in the dipstick hole.

Use the dip stick hole and add 2.25 qts of 90 weight gear oil.
Do you have a manual for this tractor? If not, go to this link:
790 Manuals.
You'll want your 790's serial number (plate just above the PTO shield) to determine which manual applies. Serial number ranges are listed in parentheses.

Great little tractor, the 790. I had one for 6 years.
