Guys,

Don't mean to sound like an idiot, but do the rear tires on these machines have tubes? I have looked at the tires and they do not say tubeless, but the valve stem looks as if they could be. I am ready to fill the tires with windshield washer fluid and water. Also, how much windshield fluid / water would I put in?

I am going to use a drill pump and a 5 gallon bucket to do the deed. Any info is appreciated.

No way to know about the tubes, except to look. Some do some don't. My YM2000 does. You could flatten the tire and see if the valve will push in.

Norm,

Are your rear tires filled? If so, how much fluid did they take?

17 gallons for a 9.5x24, 13 for a 8.3x24.

I use a brass adapter available at OSH. It hooks to your garden hose and valve stem, and has an air bleeder on it. Costs less that $10.00 from what I recall. I put the tire stem at 10 or 2 o'clock and fill about 3/4 full. Takes about 5 min each tire.

hey there fig,
how'd this go? Did you do the "fill" yet? I'm curious, i'm thinking of doing this to my 1601, it was kinda scary on a hill yesterday and i figured that some ballast in the tires would help... thanx -arthr

I purchased an adapter also. the adapter that I bought has an air bleed. Like Jim said I rotated so that the valve stem is at the top, connected adapter to garden hose & filled. You can in as much water as you want. Want to fill to the top with water ? Just keep letting the air out with the air bleed. May want to add anti freeze if stored outside in the winter.
