Re: filling tires with Beet Juice
I've had a few conversations with my dealer about Rim Guard and other options besides calcium chloride. He say his tire guy can't do windshield washer fluid anymore. Supposedly some of the alcohol in it separates and goes up into the airspace at the top of the tire. His insurance company stopped him from using it due to danger of explosion if exposed to a spark during tire maintenance. I said I doubted that, since alcohol is not especially explosive (much less so than gas/deisel). He said maybe it was just the flamability of it? (again, I have trouble with that... how does he get insurance to work around gas?).
He claims the tire guy said that the beet juice also has alcohol in it, so his insurance won't let him use it. Dealer is still interested, so I forwarded some info to him provided by others on here.
It's a moot point from my point of view... it turns out they had already filled the tires on my TC33D with calcium chloride when they first delivered it. (I had thought they were waiting for the loader to come in, but apparently not. I had requested it at purchase before I was educated by all of you helpful folks on this forum).
