G'Day

John, just to let you know Jim posted a safety guide for you over in the safety forum! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Here Youll have to get you blue crayon out to correct the coulour scheme /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Anyway, them funny looking cows? Dont you mean wooly goats? Get it right /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bone, doesnt everything taste like chicken, except anchovies, which really doesnt taste like chicken atall.

SO have we established that tadpoles in filled tyres might not be a good idea due to the bodily expansion when they turn into frogs. Fish might not be such a good idea either cos the chips would go soggy from the water. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

On a more important note, do you guys drink tea? Seems like most people here live on coffee, honestly, dont they know tea has more caffeine?

Rumors abound that personel spare tyres are filled with a fermented product usually refered to as Beer and perhaps a little Brie. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mith,

Back to the question you originally asked....

Personally, I wouldn't recommend filling an inner tube for one reason only. The fluid-filled tube tends to form condensation between the tube and the wheel, keeping the wheel wet with just water (no anti-corrisives) and will eventually rust...

I've seen it done, but I've also seen rusted wheels... though not as severe as some I've seen that had been filled with calcium. Personally, I prefer filling tires tubeless with liquids that are anti-corrosive such as windshield washer fluid, automotive antifreeze, marine/RV antifreeze (a totally different product), etc.

If you mean ethylene glycol, that stuff is pretty bad for the environment, including any animal that drinks it (supposedly it is sweet and attracts them). I wouldn't think it would be a good candidate.

I personally don't use it because of that -- all I'm saying is that it won't rust out the wheels...

Egon, whaddya spill the beans for, I had everyone convinced it was my dog up my shirt /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Kent, thanks for the answer, any ideas how I would go about filling my tyres. I dont want them tubeless because I cant fix that in the middle of a field in the poring rain knee high in mud my only tool being a tow hitch /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. Actually I couldnt fix a inner tube in that situation but you get my idea. How about finding some way of preventing condensation? The rims are painted under the tyre, well they were last time I checked, would it be a problem. Any idea how long the tyres would last before they rusted through?

On a heart stoppingly more important note, how do you spell wooly (woolie, woolly, wolly? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif) as in to have wool? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Thanks

Condensation forms when something cold comes in contact with warm, moist air. Since there is no such thing as hot or warm air in the UK, excluding Parliament, I don't see a problem. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You spelly it "wooly"... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

As long as the inside of the wheels are well painted, you can likely get SEVERAL years of use before rusting cause a problem. However, I don't think the tubes will provide that much added protection against flat tires, if that's your concern.

Snowridge, brings a tear to my eye, pure brilliance, the truth hurts /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No the thing is that if I get a puncture with an inner tube I can fix it, if its just tyre I can'ne fix it (see what I did there, just for you John /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif)
Looks like 'tis a go then, jus' plain water or some additive (type?) too. Can I put slime in between the tyre and tube, then juice in the tube? or just juice in the tube?

Bone; Beer? Bear? They're both excellent, together or alone. Unfortunately, or maybe not, beer is a lot more accessable! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
