Good news for all of you who have these cool running Boomers. When my TC45D was in for the tranny recall they also took the time to figure out what the cause & fix was for these things not warming up fast enough... or just plain warming up enough in the winter. It turns out that they needed to install an additional valve in the hose with the coolant drain valve. The additional valve allows the flow through that hose to be turned off, thereby allowing the thermostat to do its job. The coolant can no longer bypass it by going through the drain hose & through the radiator & back into the block again - all nice & cold. It has to stay in the block until the thermostat opens now. My machine now quickly comes right up to operating temperature & stays right there. Just an FYI I was told that they used a fuel shut off valve from Briggs & Stratton that happens to fit the hose perfectly. My dealer did it as a customer satisfaction thing free of charge, but if yours won't, it is a cheap & easy enough fix to do yourself & it should keep your machine running longer & better at the right temp.
