Finally, an Exhaust Stack for my Grand L 3240 cab

Not sure a kit would work on all GLs in any case. The smaller ones are 3 cyl, then it goes to 4 cyl, then 4cyl turbos, so the hoods and front ends change a bit. I'm sure the frame stretches a bit for the longer engines too, based on the specs I read. I count 3 different wheelbases, from my manual. Parts of it would probably remain the same but something would probably need to change for each part of the model range.

I find these projects to be entertaining. It sure is great work, but I don't see the advantage over stock. But that is the beauty of America - you want to do it, go do it (until our nanny gov't says you can't - coming soon, I'm sure!)

The benefits that are pushing me to fab one up are: no more soot on the loader arm, no more blowing chaff/seeds/whatever up into the grill while brush hogging, and the most important.....I think it looks waayyyy better.

Looks good. Looks factory.

About the only thing that concerns me a bit is the actual exhaust outlet. It could be the angle of the pictures, but it looks like the bottom edge of the outlet is sticking out past the top of the outlet like a lip (ie: angle not steep enough). Id worry about water getting in..

Other than that, its real slick!

Thanks Scooby, The reason I made it that way is because I wanted the exhaust to shoot upward just a little to make sure it shoots up over head and not out to the side.
I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes but it does shoot it up at an angle right now. Look wise I don't like it as much and may trim it a little to be more as you say it should. I'm not really happy about that bend, it's a tail pipe extension rather then a normal stack type bend.
Here is a picture from a different angle.

I'm not really worried about water getting in. I have spent some time installing a Stainless steel fitting at the lowest point, The fitting starts out with a 1/2 hole in the pipe and is beveled on the inside of the welded part to catch the water in the pipe and exits thru a 1/4 inch stainless opening, that always has exhaust blowing thru it to keep it open and clean.
The exhaust leak it creates is unnoticeable. (it's after the muffler) If for some unlikely reason I would leave the tractor outside in the rain I would put a tin can over it anyway like I have before with my B3030

Like the drain fitting:thumbsup:

Angle cut exhausts are used on a lot of equipment these days, The cut is usually straight vertical or the top is a little past the bottom. They stay pretty dry inside.

Yeah mine does look like it's designed to catch water, I'll trim mine, thanks for pointing that out, maybe I can cut mine and only end up painting the edge where the cut was done.

It still should push the exhaust up at a angle after the cut. I think it would look better too.

I think your onto something there!

Honestly though, I believe your tractor lives inside most of its life. Youre probably just fine the way you are if you dont want to get into cutting and painting what is already well done. However if you dont like the look and intend on cutting anyways, I think you could make a slight improvement by doing what youre planning to do.

I agree with your above post.

Kubota seems to cheap out when it comes to the exhaust. All their tractors should come with a vertical exhaust, particularly the cab models.

Id like one on my BX, but then again, the lack of an exhaust sticking up helps for cutting under trees. It should be an option though.

One thing about the BX is that a vertical exhaust would likely have to be at the very front of the engine although its been done on large tractors, it looks a bit weird to me! (this tractor is a Claas Bi Directional)

Looks like Kubota wheels, A Peter-built stack, that someone stuck (in the wrong place) John Deere work lights. So it's either coming or going? I take it the rear looks the same.
So they make tractors to actually do work, and not for looks? On this one I would leave the exhaust pointing on the ground.

. . . very nice job. My JD has a rain-drain "hole" at the bottom or lowest point of the stack. Seems to work well when it needs to but I haven't noticed that much moisture getting in to worry about.

CHEERS !
