Sorry to hear about your problems. How many hours are on her? What kind of tractor is she?

Its a Daedong (Kioti) DK50!
Hour meter has not worked for years, I think it died in the first 2 years, it shows 600 odd hours, so I would guess its done a total of about 4000 hrs.
I just hope I can get a replacement diff centre.

That's just it. As long as you can get the parts…... it's just part's, so you can treat the old gal "like crap" for another 13 years. Hope you have "her" back up running soon!

If you can't get parts, make it into a 2 wheel drive

Phew, ok, I got to a dealer today with the differential centre in hand. It looks like I should have all parts here within 2 weeks, and to my surprise they were not that pricey, quoted round figures $570au for all the bits and pieces. Will keep you posted when they arrive and I start putting it back together.

My profile shows I joined in 2003, but I reckon I joined in about 2001 when I bought this tractor. I am no longer a regular user here but have fond memories of those early days and the friendships. So to all TBN members Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

In two separate incidences this past summer, I broke bevel gear cases, so I've seen some of the parts you pictured! On the bright side, you have a nice shop to work in; my repairs were all done 'way out in the woods, which was OK in August, but not so nice in November. It's good to know that parts can still be found after more than a decade; that can be important for any of us!

Vin, any news? Did they have everything to repair it?

California, sorry for the late reply ;) , I dropped in today for the first time since Christmas 2014. I sure did get that differential back working in early 2015 and it is still going strong. when all the parts finally arrived they where slightly different from the originals but with a few extra shims I sorted it out, I had to fly by the seat of my pants and I put it back together guessing the tolerances by trial and error. When I finally got it back together I ran the tractor in gear on blocks for about 4 hrs to let everything bed in with absolutely no load. Its been one great tractor, abused now for 20 years and still going.

I am impressed. Particularly with your abilities but also the longevity of the tractor. Sad to say - I would have never been able to tackle a project like that.

I’m impressed you updated the post! Nice to see a machine running and working for so long.

Nice to see machinery last a long time

Vin, good to hear from you! Please stick around and describe some of your tractor projects.

BIG kudos!

Do you do a lot of loader work? (I know a guy with a small Kubota that had a bazillion hours on it doing loader work; hour meter quit a long time ago; he lost 4wd on it about a year ago.)

I've only beat my Kubota B7800 for about 10 years (put about 1,050 hrs on it, after getting it with a hard 738 hrs; my NX now gets most of the time), 1,800 hrs now. I don't think that "I" would hold up getting it to 4,000 hrs! (I operate it at lightning speed [HST], forward and backward, spinning all over the palce- it's caused a lot of stress on my neck!) I calculate that at current use my NX would hit 4,000 hrs when I'm about 100 years old!

If only most other things lasted and worked as well as tractors.
