I hope everyone likes it. I think it is awesome.
Very nice! The strong structure and artistic cactus impression is very clever. The mailbox door handles and other Texana are nice touches.
My only concern is the sealing of the doors against rain/blowing rain. Normal mailboxes have a door lip that surrounds the box lip and controls water intrusion. Even so, many people add a grid inside on the box bottom and tilt the box slightly down on the front so water tends to run right back out the door if it leaks in. On your doors, there are gaps around the edges and the smooth bottom of the steel tubing. The boxes will work great in the dry, but I'm just not sure about how they will protect mail during a rain storm.
Great looking project! Probably stun some kid with a baseball bat!
VERY NICE
How many hours do you figure that you've put into it so far?
Great looking mailbox!! So are you gonna mount a game camera on top to get a pic of the kids face as he shadders his bat on it:laughing:
Rick
awesome looking mailbox! Around here, the mailman would leave a note saying he would not deliver since it is not an approved USPS mailbox... perhaps you have a nice mailman and no worries...
makes me want to learn how to weld...but i guess it'd be some time before i'd create somthing that nice.
:laughing:Cool design....now add kid level motion detectors that will allow a CO2 bottle to fire the cactus needles at the bat swinging vandals....... you know, let the box "go postal" :licking:
add to your ice chest and blow dryer a clipboard and mirrored sunglasses to further enhance your rep as radar cop...
Great looking mail box!! Anything looks better with the Lone Star Flag on it.
