All this snow at this time of year - NOW THAT'S inconvenient truth!
I just came in from making a few passes with the mower.Ended up with 24-28 inches of snow and 50 mph winds. After work tried to get home before sundown with about 5 inches of snow Friday. Last mile before the house had a wheat field to the north of the road. Neighbor had 2 trucks stuck in middle of the road so I had no were to go. My Son brought the tractor across the field to the trucks. My other son tried to get across the field in his 4x4 but got stuck. All most had one truck dug out when the sun went down. The snow and wind picked up and snow was blowing back in faster than I could dig it out. We left the trucks and all headed home. Had to abandon the tractor because it was taking to long to find a way around the drifts and the visibility was almost down to nothing. Thank God we made it home safe. It was late Saturday afternoon before it stopped snowing and the wind went down. Got to the tractor, it fired right up then dug my way back to the house with it. Pickup was sitting down in a bowl of snow in the middle of a 120 foot long snow drift that was 5 feet deep. Sunday, a couple neighbors brought a 4WD 8130 JD and larger 9xxx JD 4WD with a front blade. after they made a trail across the wheat to my house and pulled out my sons truck, we dug a ramp in the snow drift in front of my pickup and he pulled it right up and out with some long pull ropes. That mile of road is still drifted shut but we can get out through the field now.
