I didn't know the year was anywhere...Thanks. I'll have to look for it.
Even if you find the date on the wheels, there is no assurance those wheels are original to your tractor. When they are shipped from Japan, all wheels are removed from all tractors and stacked in the container along with 9 or 18 tractors, and whatever fits is re-installed later.

When I was still ordering tractors I wouldn't let them remove the wheels.

Liquid should be OK. There have been extensive discussions about it here.

Do You ever get to drive ?

With snow and mud would I be better off putting liquid in the tires, or should I just leave well enough alone?

Last winter we had a 6-8 incher of wet snow and did not have any problems going up hill on a gravel drive. That is even with a heavy duty std scraper that is probably too heavy for the tractor. I have often thought about filling the tires, but have not for two reasons. The first is that I just planted new pasture and want to minimize crushing the new grass as I seem to find myself turning around or driving over it quite abit. The second is that I have a fairly steep hill going from the main pasture to the barn an would rather have my rears spin a bit going up than bounce the front up! Seem pretty flat out your way so the later may not be an issue. You can always fill later if you think you need it..

I had a 1205 pto hp tractor smaller than yours and filling the rear tires worked wonders. The fronts were not worth the effort. Your FEL puts a lot of weight on the fronts and takes a litttle off the rear. The little tractor will move a huge weight with its gearing the problem is as you guessed with traction. If you do fill the tires be sure to use something that will not freeze. I used antifreeze and water. also it you look at your wheels you will see several holes in them. you can mount weights there.

I drive it all the time. She just doesn't take pictures of me. I'm about as photgenic as a briar patch.

Hey Mace,
Glad to hear you're working your tractor and having fun. You're in a beautiful spot indeed. I'm in agreement that narrower is better for traction in soft stuff...and added weight will help as well...either will serve to increase the psi you're putting on the ground. Please let us know if you have any questions or need anything else.
