Snow Finally got some snow

We have the annual chinook in right now so the temps are in the high 50's. Most of the snow has melted. Drove down to the Madison river and watched the Bald Eagles standing on the ice flow's hunting fish (about 200 or so).

Well, we got some snow yesterday and I got to try out the PT plow. It worked great! One swipe up the drive and one down and I was finished. I did my 250 foot drive in about 15 minutes. Then I plowed out our parking area in about another 20, and cleaned up the little stuff with my little snowblower. All in all it took me a little more than an hour.

We're supposed to get 8-12 inches this weekend, oh boy!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Know what ya mean about the NY state snow...was brought up in New Hampshire, snowed around Halloween and didn't see the grass again until at least Easter...was great being a kid up there! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

My wife is the same putting the tractor in float with the mower on, she just is hesitant about the float position and quite often she has the front of the tractor off the ground.

Actually, I really love cold, cold weather. The colder the better. I am happiest when it is between 0 and -20 and I am ice fishing while sitting on a plastic bucket in the middle of a lake. No ice shelter. Just me and mother nature. A brisk walk on a frozen lake to a good fishing hole puts a smile on my face that is only equalled by the joy I get out of my PT425(OK, maybe my wife and kids get a bigger smile, but that's about it). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Right now, we had a warm spell that rotted the ice, followed by a cold spell with 1-3 inches of snow each day. That snow insulates the rotten ice and keeps it rotten and mushy. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Maybe by next week it will be safe.

When I lived in Oregon in the early 1980's Cascade Locks got 14 feet in one night, Yes, I said FEET. People went to bed with bare ground and woke up with snow over the ridges of their roofs.

I agree with you about liking the cold. My wife is from Tucson and I have told her family they can come for a visit any time but they will not see me from April to November down there. I grew up in Minnesota and during my school years I worked for the Boy Scouts of America teaching anything outdoors winter or summer besides teaching swimming indoors and out. Loved winter camping, fishing, canoe trips in Canada with nights in the teens.
Now in Montana we leave the bedroom window open at night and turn the heat off in the bedroom. Could not get any better.

I truly envy you and MR!! I enjoyed the cold and snow also, but for the last few decades my head has not allowed it! Spending even a little time outdoors with temps of +30 to +50 will result in a week or two of sinus congestion, coughs, and head aches! Riding the PT or ATV with temps below +60 often results in my jaw, teeth, and eyes aching! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif So, unfortunately I don't do it!!

Reminds me of the old story of the guy who goes to the Doctor and says: "Doctor, it hurts when I do this!!". And the Doctor says: "Then don't do that!!"!

Fortunately I do not smoke. If I did, I'm sure that I would be dead by now!!

It's -20c out and there's a foot of snow on the driveway and several more predicted for sunday evening and I'm suffering from a terrible cold.

And I don't have a heated truck cab to sit in like some folks do!!
