You can get the TC30 with a HST tranny.

mwood,

Look at my post "stare and compare" I am looking at the same size as you are and listed prices for NH, Deere, Mahindra, and Kubota. Might help you out.

I know. That is one thing I really like about the TC30. I didn't mention the HST because the original poster mentioned only wanting a gear machine.

Nice to see someone from my neck of the woods here on TBN. You are not too far from Swantak in Oneonta, he sells Mahindra and I have two, er three friends that have bought from him with good price, service and follow up. I am not fresh on Mahindra prices, but they seem good compared to Kioti, certainly lower than the big three and heavier built tractors in some regards. Certainly resale is not as good...There is also a Century/Zetor dealer in the Binghamton market - Middendorf tractor i think....very heavy built machines.

I think in your price range it would be better to buy the right size tractor from a lesser brand, then a too-small tractor from the big three. I am not particularly fond of the 790 - it is a tight operator station, someone light overall weight, and lower cap. hydraulics. Plus I dont like the gear pattern much...anyhow, you asked about the shuttle on the Kioti 1914- I am quite sure you have to hit the clutch to change gears or direction, but for direction there is a simple lever on the steering column for quick F-R....this is a simple durable setup, but not a 'power reverser' that removes the need for the clutch etc.

Good luck shopping

Actually, when I read your earlier reply, I thought to myself "As knowledgeable as Jay is about tractors, I know that he knows that the TC30 isn't just a straight gear tractor, doesn't he?" Then I kind of figured that maybe you just had one of those moments we all have now and again.

I also recognized that the original poster did mention that he was only looking at gear stuff, but I thought I needed to help keep you well informed! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

With a mechanical shuttle shift you have to come to a complete stop before shifting from forward to reverse or vice-versa. With a synchronised shuttle shift, you do not have to come to a complete stop to change directions. Both require you to use the clutch. Power Shuttles like that found on Deere's PowrReverser or Massey's Power Shuttle does not require the use of the clutch when moving the lever to change directions. I think a mechanical shuttle is an improvement over a straight gear machine.

lol I have definately been having those lately. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Sometimes I will notice that I have made a comment or stated something and realize later how it could be interpreted as something else. Those are the times I feel like banging my head into the wall. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

That's what I like about this place. It is like a well oiled machine. Everyone does their share to keep the info on these boards flowing along smoothly. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks for the lead on the dealer in Oneonta! Also, very good to see someone else here from my area. I did try to go out to see Middendorf but they were closed by the time I got there. As I said before, I am pretty much color blind. I want something which is going to give me as much bang for the buck as possible. Also, do you know how far most dealers will deliver? I don't have a large vehicle to tow so I'd have to have the dealer deliver on whatever I buy. I figure that I can also try to get the dealer to pick up for warrenty repairs as part of the sale agreement. After that, well... we'll have to see when a truck fits in the budget /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Wow! Those century tractors sure look nice! The 2028 looks to be exactly in my range for features and it has the Synchro Reverser to boot! Very nice looking setup. Now... does anyone know how expensive these are? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Thanks again for all the great info!

I paid $12,600 for a Century 3035 + $3,400 for C-50 FEL in late June of this year. I would expect the 2028 to be a little less expensive.

Something else to consider and maybe a dealing chip for you is that the Century line has been discontinued - sort-of - they are now being sold as Zetor by Century and have different model numbers and different engines.
