Finally started on my Texas pole barn!

Awesome progress!!! Nice to see all the pictures and hear about all the fun you had over the holiday.

I've never seen lifts at the Home Depot here, but I've had fair to good results with their other rentals. Usually it's all new stuff that works good. If it fails, they've been very good about making good on the delay.

What was the rental rate for the lift?

Nice looking barn...I built a 30x48 here at my place and remember how fast it went once it was time to roof/skin it...You might have already stated but are you going to add insulation?

Beautifull building. I built one similar size but used the morton building construction methods. Only thing i dont like is the concrete all the way to the top of the hole. An old timer told me a long time ago to never fill the hole all the way up. Leave a foot of dirt on top of the concrete. Water will almost certainly wedge the post back up eventually.

Looking good, keep up the hard work and thanks for posting pics.

Finally cool enough to get some outdoor chores done without a heat stroke.:)

Megado... did you get the barn finished?

No...not finished with the barn yet. Unfortunately I haven't gotten much done with it since my last posting and this past summer was pretty much a bust in that regard. Between travel, work, a back injury and too many other items that I won't bore you with, the barn took a back seat to them all. However I did get the tin on the remaining shed side roof (see below):

And also got the remaining upper rafters set above the loft area:

That's about all I got done over the summer. My plans are (hopefully) to get back to spending more time working on the barn in the upcoming months. First on the list will be getting the upper roof installation completed over the long Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. I've got the material sitting in my trailer ready to go and now just need for that long weekend to get here. I'll post more pics after I'm done.

Thanks for the update. Like the others have said, better to make a little progress then none at all!!!
