I've got a JD 670 Compact Utility Tractor with a 60 loader on it and a hydraulic hose blew. I've found what seems to be the right parts diagram, but I can't make much sense of it:

http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.HomePageServlet_Alt

I can't even tell if it's showing the hoses that go from the tractor itself to the metal lines on the loader, or the ones that go from the metal lines to the cylinders (which is what I need). In particular I need the one that goes from the metal lines to the rearward end of the cylinder that raises and lowers the boom - I think it's #3 on the diagram but I can't tell for sure - it sprays fluid when I lower the boom.

I've been talking to greenfarmparts.com, who were real helpful sending me a drawing (which I eventually located online), but they don't have any info about the length of the hose or the fittings (to help figure if it's the correct one). The part name says "hydraulic hose - fabricate" so I guess that means they fabricate it to order, so somebody has to know this information at some point. Does the vendor send the info to Deere, and they make it and dropship to me, or how does that work ? It seems to be impossible to talk to anyone at Deere directly, so I guess I just have to cross my fingers that it comes out right.

Obviously I'm really confused, so thanks for any help.

Ok, I think I figured it out. The #3 are the ones I *don't* want, the ones that go from the tractor to the metal lines. I want 6,7,8, and 9 - probably #8 specifically.

#8 hose goes from the metal line to the head end of the boom cylinder. Part number is AW28954. From JDparts the length is 34". The drawing shows an O-ring at each end, #15 T77613 and #16 T77857. From the size of these O-rings, these are ORFS fittings. O-Ring Face Seal. One end is #6 ORFS the other end is #8 ORfS. The only thing I can't tell is if the fittings are male or female, straight or angled, but you should be able to tell from your hose.

Can't you just take the old hose to a shop and have a replacement made?

It's my neighbor's tractor - which I use a lot. He has done that with some of them that have failed, but some of them the end-fittings are a problem, apparently.

Thanks. That reminds me to order some o-rings too.

Does the word "fabricate" in the part-name mean that some lead-time is going to be added to the order, if so do you have any idea how long ?

If the dealer has both hose ends and hose in stock it should be a while you wait deal. It does not take long to cut and crimp hose. Also might depend how busy the shop is or if parts man is allowed to make hoses.
I would start by calling and asking if they have that part number in stock, may not have to be fabricated, since JDparts gives it a part number and price.

If the hoses comes apart from a custom fabricator, you need a different fabricator. I've seen where a fabricator "shaved" down a hose to fit a connector on an excavator. it worked - but only for a little while. The hoses need to be done right.

No, the fabricated ones have not failed, just some old dry-rotted ones. The problem is that apparently they can't get hold of some of the fittings.
