Fine Cut or Standard deck?

I'm ready to pull the trigger on a BX260. Went to 2 Kubota dealers in NH. When I mentioned the fine cut deck both said they don't recommend them. Asked why, the reply was "the terrain in New England is too rocky for that type of deck". I mulch cut and it seems that the fine cut deck is better suited for that. I realize that you can add the mulch kit to the standard deck as well. Can anyone fill me in on why the two decks are different?

The fine cut is a deeper deck And that is suppose to hold and re cut every bit of grass and make less clippings. I originally ordered one but didn't get one. After I inquired about it I found that the people notice little to no difference in the cut.

I too wanted the fine cut, but the regular deck worked just fine for me. Regular deck is deeper then fine cut.

I have the standard deck and it does an excellent job. It is so quite and smooth that some times I have double check to see if I engaged it.

I have the 60" standard deck and added the mulching kit to it. I'm pretty happy with the cut. It seemed like the mulching kit was pretty expensive, maybe $200?, but it came with quit a bit of baffles so was a pretty extensive kit. I really like the fact that the mulcher doesn't windrow the grass and that you can get rid of the chute deflector. Kubota says to leave the deflector on but I don't know why, no grass comes out of it.

Hmmmm. Any part numbers for the 60"??? I did not know they make one and I would love to remove the deflector and get the 10"+ inches in the garage.

LOL--I removed the ROPS and safety switchs on hour #1....Like my old BX22.

I live in the country and while I didn't remove my deflector, I have it held up 90% of the time which eliminate most of the windrowing when mowing damp grass. I have a mulching deck on one of my John Deeres and get too much clogging, so don't use it much.

Love the standard 60" deck on my 2660! Did not want to have to mess with clogging decks and such. I was afraid I would have that with the fine cut 60" deck.

I could not find my flayer on it but I new that I did see the 54' fine cut top with what looked like the pulley receded.I'm no Kubota expert, but this is the info I found in last years BX sale brochure that I have. "For finer cutting jobs and more beautiful end results, our Fine Cut Deck is exactly what you're looking for. Kubota's baffle structure allows the grass to be cut more finely giving you a closer and more uniform cut. Our Fine Cut Deck also offers excellent performance with our optional mulching kit." The Fine Cut Deck is 5" in depth, and the standard deck depth is less. How much less, I don't know for sure. It look's as though it's a few inches different in the brochure pics. Hopefully, one day I will be a kubota owner???????

I looked online for the mulching kit for a 60" deck and so far zero (for a BX).

sw3, I just went to my dealer and ordered mine. I'll see if I still have a reciept with a part number on it, but it may be a day or so before I can look it up.
