Finish mower leaking oil.

My mower is leaking oil out the bottom where the pulleys are. Does anyone have any ideals how I can fix this?

Take the gearbox apart. Put new bearings and seals in were needed. Adjust bearings properly reassemble and fill with oil.

Thanks, is taking the gearbox apart pretty straight forward? And are parts and seals fairly easy to get?

The next 4 days are real busy and I won't be home so I won't be able to take the time to give you a detailed answer. In the meantime yes the gearbox is easy to take apart so take it off if you want and clean up the outside. Look for a manufacturing tag or imprint on the gearbox. You can start taking it apart if you want and I'll catch up with you around Tuesday or so. I'll be on again tonite also but only for a short time.

You may not need anything but a new oil seal. It should be available at wherever you bought your mower. Once you get the oil seal out, see if the bearing have any adjustment. Loose bearings may be the reason the seal went bad. Caution: don't tighten them TOO much as it will cause overheating and ruin them, a little loose is better than too tight.
If you cant get the seal out, just remove the gear box, take to your tractor dealer (or mower dealer) and they should be able to put in new seal and any other needed parts.

Thanks Gary, I think next week I will take it off mower and see if I can take it apart. If it looks like I can't do it I will take it to the dealer.
