May be showing my ignorance also, but isn't a spud bar the same thing some call a rock bar, I usually call a tamping bar, and Tractor Supply Co. calls a digging bar? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You mean it's not a cafe for yuppies to gather together eating baked potatoes?

As stated it depends on the area you'll be mowing. It sounds like a RFM will suit your needs fine. For my yard a MMM wins hands down. WAY too many trees.

Removing and installing my MMM has become pretty easy. I take out all the pins and remove the pto shaft, then lift the front of the tractor with a floor jack. The deck rolls right out. The first time I removed it I didn't use the jack and it was a major pain (not enough clearance under the tractor). I can have the MMM off or on in under 10 minutes.

You use a spud bar to move or align things (normally steel members) before riveting (old) or tightening the bolted connection with your spud wrench.

How about this for a spud bar? A little bigger and heavier than the one I had from Tractor Supply Company.

I think 'high iron' workers will agree with Jim.

I liked that /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Around here, most people refer to the tool as a "diggin' iron"..........chim

My tractor didn't have the MMM on it when I purchased it used so because of much lower costs and ease of taking it off and putting it on time and time again I opted for the RFM. I also don't mow as my primary "chore" with the tractor. Now that I have used the RFM quite a bit I can definitely see the advantage of using a MMM. I never take my loader off when using the tractor since I use it ALL the time. With the loader on and the RFM attached it makes the tractor very long and it just isn't very easy to get into some spots. I'm sure I'll come up with a good routine eventually but so far I would lean towards the MMM if I had to do it all over again. No complaints with the actual mower though. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
