Mowing Finish mower noise

I put a 5 foot finish mower behind my Iseki 1610TS and was just wondering why it is so loud. When the PTO is engaged and starts turning, it makes a loud racket when turning. It may be normal, but just wondering. Is this normal or what can I do to quiet it down. It does have plenty of oil in the gear box.

Tell us more about the " noise". Different noises mean different things. A high pitch whine is sometimes normal. A click or clang isn't. Some of the oil additives can help with whining noises. Sometimes too tight belts will make the whining and cause damage over the long haul. The bearings are whining not the belt. I hope this gives you somewhere to start.

It may be the pulley berrings which may be normal, I used to have a 4ft mower and i went to a 5ft. The 4ft made a racket but not quite as loud as the 5ft mower. I greased all the berrings and maybe it will help, or maybe not?

If you loosen the belts you can spin the bearings one at a time. If you can hear them when turning by hand they probably need replaced.

Are you running it at the lowest pto speed?

Well at first I had it in 4th but just for a couple of minutes. Then I realized it so I put it in 1st which is 540rpm. The noise is just as loud on 1st as it is on 4th. The noise is the same in either gear but I do know that 1st gear is the recommended gear since it is 540rpm. Thanks, Rambo
