This is solid gold advice. There is nothing like actual experience. The statement by others that a finish mower can be wider than a rotary is only true if the crop is an easy cut. But fields sometimes "get away" and grow tall. If all you have is a high-speed mower on an under powered tractor - it's a tough situation. The rotary will at least lay it down without working that 9n senior citizen to death.I mow a few small fields around our house.... using our 8N (approx 24 pto/hp, 9N around 20 pto/hp).........the old timers around here were evenly divided between a 4' & a 5' being the optimal size for a N tractor. ......Now having many hours mowing behind me I would have definitely bought the 5' .......
