I had bought my Land Pride 60" rear discharge finish mower used and it is showing its use. It has holes in the rear discharge pan and the plates that direct grass flow are worn out.

I started the repair by making a card board template. Then I tranfered it to 1/8" steel. Torched it to shape.

This picture shows the new plate in place. I started to weld plates in with my year old barely broken in millermatic 180 when my sample spool ran out. I guess I will have to finish tomarrow. More pictures will follow.

I don't see where you started welding the plate in, but thought it might be a good idea to lightly grind the edge where you cut it with a torch to allow for a better weld. That isn't 6011 rod your running, lol!

Nice Job ! And very encouraging for those who may not have considered repairing something like this. What is the spindle support structure like? As long as you have the hood open, is it worth patching in new metal there?

All the steel in the spindle suport area is solid. Last year I did have to weld a brace on the idler pulley shaft. It had been bent and caused the belt to wear out. Kind of a expensive lesson, my wife was not too happy with the price of the belt. It is some long, only could find one at the dealer, but at least it was in stock.

I finished welding in the rear plates and made the new grass guides and welded them in too. It was getting dark but snapped some pictures anyway. I did grind the scale off of the plates before welding them in but they were rusty and could of used more cleaning. Just the farmer in me not used to cleaning things up much before welding.

finished the mower up today. I sharpend the blades and pumped it full of grease, even checked the gear box fluid. The first picture gives a much better view of the work I did. The next one shows the stand I threw up to make working on mower easier, and the last shows the 7510 picking the mower up to flip it over.

As in a previos post I mentioned the idler pulley being braced so here is a pic of it. I also put a pic of the mower right side up.

Nice work !

That is just like my FDR1560. I guess I should flip mine over and look for holes? I bought mine used and the belt was smoked when I bought it. I half expected a spindle to be siezed, but they were fine. I hit ALL the local auto parts stores trying to get a belt..... not one of them could help me. I ended up having to go through my Landpride dealer and paid about $75:mad: for a stinkin belt. If anyone has an FDR1560 and has found an aftermarket belt that fits....... I'd like to know the brand and belt number. I think it was something like 137.5 inches.
