I purchased a Woods RD7200 for $1900 last October. I currently mow about 15 acres about every 2 to 3 weeks. I have been extremely satisfied with this mower. The gearbox on mine is warranted for 5 years and the weight is 670#.

I have been using the BH RDTH72 for two years. In my opinion it is a very robust machine. It cuts like it should and does not complain about running over fallen limbs. The price I paid is about the same as you were quoted.

Thanks for the replys, NoTime and Michael.

I think I'd be happy with either the BH or the Woods.

I'm a little concerned about the HP of my Ford (48 pto) and using too small a mower. I've recently been looking at and thinking about the Woods PRD7200. It has a 60hp gearbox and 5yr warranty. The price is steep, the dealer says it lists for $3,000. and he has a "bottom-line" price on it of $2,500 with the front roller. I might offer him $2,200. and see what he says. I'm sure he can come down on the $2,500, just don't know how much. (My wife would probably have a cow if she knew the price of these mowers I'm looking at /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, but, she's the one that said she'd like our 4 acres of fields next to the house to look like our front yard. I took the bait and ran with it. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif "Ok, honey, I'll start looking for a finish mower". I bought a 5-foot Woods from a guy at work. I knew it was too narrow (and small) for my tractor when I bought it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif So now I'm shopping for a 6-foot.

I waffle between telling myself a cheap mower will do the job, and man, I'd be in hog-heaven mowing the fields with a nice, new 6-foot BH or Woods machine. My "tractor-time" is my "relaxation time". I love mowing.

I boought the Bush Hog RDTH72 and really like it. Had a side discharge before and much prefer the rear. Paid $1850 one year ago. Deck seems very well constructed and with a Kubota 3830 I can mow through very tall grass like I'm going through butter. On mine the gear box is made in China. They probably import the gear box and then assemble the deck in Ga. Good luck with your choice.
