I'm looking to purchase a rear 72", rear discharge finish mower. I've researched Woods, Bush Hog, Land Pride, King Kutter, Howse, and Buhl.
Any comments, good or bad would be appreciated on your experiences with the above mentioned brands.

Thanks

You have high quality and value brands listed. What is most important to you? A low cost mower or a mower built like a tank that will last as long a a quality tractor?

I'd prefer a mower built like a tank. Where does King Kutter fall into that category? Can I get a 72" mower built like a tank for 1400 to 1600 dollars?

Just my personal opinion, but I think King Kutter falls into the value category. Obviously opinions will vary. And some brands offer a range of products. I think the better brands might include Woods, Landpride, Befco. Also consider Midwest's new line. There are probably many other higher quality brands.

I have not priced a 72" so I really don't know if you are in the ball park. I guess it wouldn't suprise me if $1600 would get you a better quality unit.

Krambull I have used a KingKutter 60" finish mower since 2000 I have had to replace only one spindle assembly and I change the drive belt whenever needed. I keep it greased, and have a spare set of blades that I swap twice per season. Now the paint may not be as fancy as some of the higher end units but I have no complaints on the deck itself. I thinks it's very well built for the workout that I throw at it.

Do they make a better finish mower? I'm sure they do but until mine goes belly up I wou't be giving mine up real soon.

King Kutter runs about $1100 in that size. Just looking at them they seem ok, especially when used for the intended purpose (finish mowing). Not sure about quality of cut and all that as I don't have one.

I haven't priced Landpride or similar higher end brands but a JD goes for around $2500 in that size I believe.

I had the 60" Bush Hog and really liked it, but it wasn't cheap.

Check Corriher who is a dealer on this site. They are also on Ebay. they carry a goodly amount of mowers. Also contact Johnson's Auto who is also on this site. I've bought from both and find them both to be honest, upfront and reasonable. Let's take care of those who are interested in us. BobG in VA

I have a 72" Rear Discharge Bush Hog and love it. Very nice cut. Off the top of my head I think I paid around $1600.00. Can't remember exactly since I bought everything as a package. Don't think you would be disappointed.

Check my post on Bush Hog gearbox leak!!!
Purchased a Bush Hog ATH600 - 5' deck in 1999 for $1695.
Worked great for 5 years, less than 100 hours of use!
But just this last week the gearbox leaked gear lube on shop floor. From replies to my post bottom seal may have failed. Haven't figured a cost to repair it yet.
