hey bpence,
thanks for the comments. the way im thinking is with the reciever hookup setup i can have manys things to easily pop on and off. the next thing im gonna make is my counterweight. it will have a male tube to slide into the receiver and a u shaped lifting lug welded to the top in the balance area. then i can use my chain hoist in the garage to pickup and slide in and pin. im also toying with the idea of making some sort of plow like the scarifiers on a box scraper. i would buy the actual scarifiers and make the frame. the spring and summer senario would be: 3pt receiver on with abilty to quick connect sprayer, weight for loader mulch and dirt work and plow for a garden. fall and winter: take off 3pt receiver and put on 60" rear blade for snow in cahoots with loader. maybe all this is just justifying my sick and crafty mind to make weld projects. also the sprayer hooks up to wires under the seat that are hot and were ready for crimp on connectors to plug in. the sprayer came with battery clamps but they got chopped off once i remembered these under the seat wires and i put that corrugated plastic wire covering over them to clean up the look. hey i just figgered another project, ill make a cooler rack for one of those 12v coolers and ill plug that in and have cold beer while im tractorin away!! anyway im having fun.

Rich,

LOL! Now you are a man that truly loves his tractor! Gotta love that! Now if only I had a welder and your talent....

wonder why Harv ain't been trying to 'scarf' on this spray rig?

Oh, I've been lusting after it, all right. /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif But our weird weather pattern this year left the ground too squishy for tractorin' when it came time to spray the weeds. I wound up using my backpack sprayer again and hit the whole area twice, several weeks apart. Took about 5 hours each time, but that should probably do it for this year.

It turns out there were so many places I had to spray where the tractor couldn't go (between trees, rock outcroppings, buildings, etc.) that I'm now reconsidering the practicality of getting a 3-pt rig. The ol' budget hit rock bottom this spring, so that makes the decision a little easier, too. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Boy Harv! I can sure relate to the budget hitting rock bottom!
My income took a 33% hit, and the medical bills took a horendous leap! Disability ain't the place I like to be, but sure beats doing without it! Lot's of luck on the weeds. by the way, did you notice the hose and hand 'wand' on the sprayer? Now I'm sure that hose could be lengthened without any major hassles, would say fifty or a hundred feet of hose get you close enough to spray those areas that you mentioned? Just a thought for next year!

Dang, Scruffy! Now you got me thinking again (and that always makes my head hurt /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif).

I've been so focused on the boom idea that I totally overlookd the wand approach. With a little creative valving, I suppose I coulg rig up for both. Ya think?

Harv, sounds like a perfectly good idea to me! Adding a directional ball-valve would let you select either the wand or boom. Of course, if you want to get fancy, you could add a hydraulic directional ball-valve! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif An additional idea to think about is adding a hose reel that could be locked down to keep the hose in place when not needed.

Most excellent hitch. I like the versatility. I have been sort of sneaking up on a similar design but tossed it out when I saw this one. I too want a sprayer with booms AND a wand on a reel. Regarding weights for the front or back depending on the job at hand and implement in use, rather than cast iron or similar what about a drum filled with water? Easy to load empty with no mechanical assist and adjustable in weight depending on fill. Probably should mount vertical and or include baffles to reduce free surface effect. Front end loader makes a good weight in front to offset HD 6ft brush hog but reduces manuverability too much.

What about torque around the axis of the receiver? I was thinking of using two receivers because of that concern.
