Finished the log splitter!

Rusty,You did a beautiful job. 35 years ago Ibuilt on with a 40 horse morris minor engine. Had a 12 gal 2000lb Vickers pump. Showing off ,It could sever a 10" OAK log sideways. Now I'm an old welder. I'm looking at the welds at the wedge,best I can see. Weld profile is Too High. Not enough amps. and maybe too slow. Little penetration,I'm sure. The old saying is cram +jam.Wish I had a few hrs. to teach You. Find a full time welder and have Him or Her spend a little time with You and Your Machine. Please post this great project on weld talk forum. We'll enjoy what You accomplished and Make You a better welder.

Thanks for the welding suggestions. The pump and,of course, the motor are turning at 3400 rpm. I went with the theory that tank cap. should be = to gpm of pump, in this case, 16. seem like a lot of atf. ($$$$)

For safety's sake you may want to replace the romex with SOOW cord.

Ron is that SOOW cord flexible, multi stranded like extension cord? and would I go with the same 12/3 as the Romex? Thanks, Rusty
