It's mid january, so I thought it would be agreat time to start
shoping for a finishing mower.
I am looking for a 60 inch 3pt. mower. Is there anything specific that sets them apart. I have gotten quotes on 5 different brands. There is about $400.00 difference in price.
Should I just take the cheapest?

I would look close to see how well they were built, and maybe paying tad more you might have less problems..
Did you check out Woods mowers, for there s good brand.

I would definitely get a rear discharge mower. I have a Woods RD7200 and am quite pleased. I would purchase a name brand-Woods, Landpride, Befco, or Bushhog. Some of the mentioned manufacter's offer several grades of mowers and I would purchase a middle of the road model.

While I was tractor shopping I looked at the Woods 7200 rear discharge. It looked like a very nice unit.

Check out Frontier too, they're made by Woods for Deere. I think mine was around $1900 for a 60" rear discharge.

I don't think you can go wrong with Woods, Land Pride or Bush Hog. I have a land Pride 1560 60" rear discharge, and I'm very happy with it. I got it for $1200 last spring.

I think you'd be happy with a King Kutter, it's even cheaper, but it's hard to find a rear discharge, and I strongly reccommend you go with a rear discharge.

I have a Befco C50 RD6 72" 3pt rear discharge mower. It works well, and I would recommend it. It is a little on the loud side though.

Just going through and noticed Rhino was not mentioned. I have an FM60 rear discharge. I have had it since June of 2000, averaging roughly 4 acres per week with no problems at all. Everything is easy to get to and plenty of grease fittings. Been a great machine so far

Too bad you're not closer! I'll be selling my one year old LandPride FDR2572 rear discharge finishing mower. Thought my field was level enough, but it seems I need a brush hog instead.
