Firearms season opens this weekend

in Missouri. I am heading to camp today. Any other deer hunters out there?

I will be hunting with my old reliable Marlin .30-30. I have had it for a couple of decades and have taken many deer with it. I also have a Browning BAR .30-06 but it's a pristine grade II gun as old as me so it's pretty much a safe queen.

Good luck and safe hunting. The 30-30 round has taken more deer than any other round. I have a Marlin 336, great gun. I'm very jealous of your BAR. Nice rifle. Take your camera and let's see some buck shots.

Open is Saturday here in MI too. I will be out dark and early. Good luck.

Oh, in the lower half of MI we can only hunt with shotguns, so I will have my Mossberg 12ga with rifled barrel and scope, still good to 100 yards, not that I will need that distance where I am hunting.

I've never been to Missouri, but from what I've seen, it looks like a great place for deer hunting. Lots of public land, a good deer population and allot of varied terrain.

We've been hunting our land since the opener, but haven't seen a buck yet. I just put in a food plot this year, but the deer are not interested in it. Once the acorns turn sour, we're hopefull that they will discover the oats and peas, and show some interest. If not, there's always hogs and coyotes!!!

I was just invited to hunt on a 5,000 acre ranch in West Texas, and had to turn it down. Lots of Mule Deer and Whitetails on it too, but I'm booked up solid with clients and have to get a four bathroom remodels done before Christmas, plus a list of other jobs for clients. The economy is wearing my out!!! LOL

Bummer, I hope someday to hunt on a large preserve in Texas.

Not to hijack the thread, but you seem to have the same problem as a builder friend of mine. You do quality work and you will always have customers, no matter the economy. Underpromise and overdeliver and you are likely to create customers for life.

I will be trying to get to bed early tonight. Hoping the bucks I saw during early doe season hang out in front of my stand. Weather here is supposed to be terrible. Hoping that all the softies leaving the forest early push the deer right to me.

I don't hunt, but I'm sure SIL and his brothers and dad will be out this weekend. I know there's at least one buck comes through my place from the damage to one of my trees, so..... Harvest early and often! Good hunting to all.

Opens here in Virginia this Saturday too. Went to the range today to check my .270 WSM and my backup rifle SMLE .303. Now I am ready, hope them dear are gonna show up for the randez vous too
