I am in the process of shopping for a First Choice Box blade. There are two dealers near me in Michigan. One dealer has a BB20-60 in orange and is asking $350 and one has it in red and is asking $275. The first question is should I go with a BB20-60 or a BB20-48 for my Kubota B7500. The outside of the rear wheels measures slightly over 48". The manual says that the maximum size and weight that I should use is 54" with a weight less than 375 lbs. If something happens with something larger they will void the warranty if something happens (funny that the KUBOTA 60" MMM that weighs 375 lb. is above the recommended 300 lb for a 60" MMM in the manual!).

The second question is what is a good price for the 60" and 48"? Should I order one direct and pay freight and have to put it together so that I get the color I really want? Thanks.

By the way in case your interested in why the dealer only has red implements he sells Branson tractors that don't look too bad for the money. They are made in Korea by a company called Kujthe (?). They make some 5000 series John Deeres. I thought it would be because he sold Massey Fergusons.

Gusg,

I just bought a BB-20 in the 60" width and I can tell you that $350 is a very good price on one. Around here you'll pay $300 for the King Kutter that's not nearly as well built, in my humble opinion. The First Choice is well worth the $50 price differential and probably a lot more.

As to the color, I might suggest you ask your dealer about ordering the color you want if time isn't of the essence to you on this deal. I ordered mine through an out of town dealer and they arranged to have it drop shipped to me and I put it together myself.

In your case, since you have a local dealer, you can probably just order the color you want and still have the dealer prepare if for delivery for you. In my case, doing that would have resulted in either a very long trip to the dealer or double shipping. I posted information on and even some pictures of my First Choice box blade here if you're interested.

As to what size you need, I'll defer to people who have used different size box blades with your particular tractor model. Whichever one you get, I hope you'll be as please with yours as I am with mine. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Gary,

I read your entire thread earlier. It sounds like if I can pick the one up for $275 that is red that would be a great deal. It is also all put together (hopefully right). He said that I could order an orange one through him but it would cost $80 more for shipping. The color doesn't make that much difference to me but if he had an orange one at the same price I would have jumped on it.

Your right, the one I saw that he has is a well put together box blade. I think you also said that they come with an extra set of caps. Maybe he has them in the back. I will go and pick it up this week.

Thanks and I know that you are enjoying it.

I believe what I said was they come with replaceable caps. If I said "replacement caps" instead, the error is mine and I'm sorry if it mislead you. I'm glad you're getting one. I'm sure you'll be glad you did. Enjoy it!

Thanks. I have a 200' driveway plus a circular drive that is badly in need of being redone. The rocks are embedded pretty good. I just have to learn how to use the thing first. Did you practice on anything before you used a box blade for the first time before you worked on something you cared about?

I've had a lot of other things going on since I got mine and haven't used it yet. Right now I'm trying to get electricity run to my barn and do some trenching to get the 6" rainfall we had last week out of the same barn.

I intend to "practice" on the shoulder of the road out front first before I get into my 600'+ driveway with it.

Gus,
Let me know when you get your First Choice box blade. I am thinking about getting the BB20-48 and wondered how it would work with the B7500. The 48 is 391 lbs and just about covers the tire width, so that is what I was going to go with. I am interested how far back the box blade sits from the tractor. Anyway, when you get your box blade, please let me know how you like it. Thanks

The distance from the lift pin to the front cutting edge is 18.5". The distance from the lift pin to the back edge of the rear cutting edge is 25.5". The distance from the lift pin to the rear edge of the side is 26.5"

Let me know if you have any more questions, I'll be glad to try to answer them.
