Well, having read some good things on First Choice implememts I decided to try and find a dealer in my area. I tried to contact the company through their website but never heard from them. Today I called their toll free number and talked to a guy for a few minutes. I asked if there were any dealer close to me and he really couldn't tell me. About all he could do was rattle off a few cities in the state that I'm in. The first one he read is over 300 miles away. I asked if they had retail prices for their mowers and he said no. He seemed to be very busy and didn't really have time to talk to me. My next step is to get a map out and look for the towns and cities that he read to me and then call him back and get the name of the dealer. (seems odd that I'd have to do this) I don't think First Choice will be my 1st choice.

Don't let your response from him turn you away from a good product.

Look under NH buying and check out Corriher Implements. They aren't close to you but they deliver nationwide. Folks from all over the country buy from them. I bought my FC mower from Corriher.

Instead of paying for shipping on a heavy item that will only drive a "cheaper" item up to be more expensive... Instead, buy something locally more "expensive"... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Or why not travel down to your local TSC and kick some tires there...?

They sell the KingKutter finish mower... and I think you would be hard pressed to find better value... and guess what? No far away shipping charges to pay for... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Update...... Called First Choice back and got nearest dealer. (about 50 miles) Dealer really tried to help but didn't have much info.
Called First Choice a third time.......found out they don't even make rotary cutters or core aerators anymore. Those are the two items I mentioned during our first conversation. Their website still lists them as products that they make. Come on guys, get your act together.
He also mentioned that their 6ft rotary cutter (that they don't make anymore) uses the same gearbox (40hp) as Howse and King Kutter.

Midwest made the FC rotary cutters and landscape equipment but the gearboxes are not the same as Howse. Howse Gearboxes may look the same on the outside but the inside workings are vastly different (lower HP rating) from Midwest gearboxes. It's just the way of FC slamming Midwest by saying this about Midwest Fab. because Midwest has grown beyond needing FC to market their products.

Just picked up a MW 7 ft box blade today that was shipped from Corriher. Got a good price and very reasonable delivery charge to my Mahindra Dealer in VA. When I got there, the dealer wanted to ask what I paid as he thought it had real "quality" built into it. When I told him he said he may have to start selling the MW stuff as well. This is a Good Thing! I used it today and no surprises, its as good as it gets. BobG in VA

BobG,
Not surprised at all that you'd be happy with anything that came from Midwest. I tried to get my dealer to just look at them.......his response was "I've seen all kinds of Mom&Pop operations go down the tubes". My response was....."Fine, dig your head in the sand, but when the next 100 people come in or call wanting Midwest, I told ya so" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
First Choice seems to be interested in what ever product they can sell at a good profit. They gave me 5 dealers names when I wanted a box blade. I called all 5 and 4 of them had never heard of First Choice. They sell other items from Buy Smart, which is another company Pieter runs. The 5th had a shipment from First Choice sitting "out back" but had no idea if there were any 5' box blades in the shipment or not. I wanted one from JimMc at Midwest, but had to settle for something else at the time.
Sorry for ranting, but Jim produces a good product. And if HE isn't satisfied, it never leaves the plant.

Thanks for the reply Ken. Actually your place was one that John mentioned to check in our third conversation. As it stands now, I'm just looking for a 6ft rotary mower. I'll probably wait till next year to get an aerator. I think I'm gonna just go down the road to TSC and pick up a KK.

i wouldnt waste my time with fc any longer, and it looks like you wont. why should you go out of your way to buy their product if they are not going to help! what a horrible way to run a business. reminds me of what ikea did to me last night. i will no longer buy their product ever!
