TLDR - The Chevy Aveo 05-11 Automatic transmission seal will work as a replacement in a pinch for a temp fix, PN 223830 or SKF 14720.
Hi all, This weekend my TC21D blew the front seal in the final drive at the steering knuckle. I thought I had the correct seal to replace it, but it turns out I bought the seal for the second generation of TC21D. The shaft ID of the second gen is slightly smaller....so the seal I bought was too small.
Knowing my beautiful bride would throw me out if I bled hydro fluid back across the driveway a second time...I needed a solution today. Internet search revealed that the Chevey Aveo seal matched the SBA050600038 dimensions. Its not nearly as good of a seal WRT dirt tolerance or contact area, but if you need a quick cheap fix while waiting for your CNH part to arrive its a viable option.
