First Impressions of a 2320

I have to agree about high range. I end up using it as a transport gear; using it when driving the tractor from one work location to another. Low range is great though and plenty fast for me. Maybe because my place is really rough and we use the L120 on the lawn so I don't feel the need for speed.

Other than that my 2320 has done all that we expected and a bit more.

My new 2320 was delivered yesterday replacing a 2210. The first project was to move some rocks near my house to a ditch out in the woods. It was not alot of weight, so I did not install the ballest box. The loader worked very well & the tractor drove very well. I then removed the loader. It was very easy to remove. I then started mowing. Because the 2320 sets higher than the 2210, I was concerned with the stabilty of the 2320 when mowing slopes around my pond. I was very happy to find the 2320 felt even more stable than the 2210. I also was concerned about moving from turf tires on the 2210 to R4s on the 2320. Again I was very happy with the results. The sod was very damp & I only had a couple torn spots. those were when I was mowing around trees on a slope. I could not tell much difference between mowing with the 2320 & the 2210 other than the ride was better because of the larger tires & added weight. The 2320 manuvers just as well as the 2210.

I really like the position control on the 3pt. That is a huge improvement over the 2210. I also like the drive over deck. I had to remove the deck to run a hot wire to rear of the tractor for a connector to plug in my sprayer. I removed the deck on my wood shop floor. The deck did not slide around when backing or pulling over it. I also like the ability to move the deck around with the 3pt.

The only negetives are a couple of items others have mentioned.
The first is that high range is geared to high, or JD needs to add a middle range. I always mowed in high range with the 2210. I could not do that with the 2320. The highest speed in low range is slower than I am used to mowing & the slowest speed in high range seems faster. Also on slopes, the engine boggs down alot when mowing in high range.

The other issue is the swivel wheels on the front of the 62D deck. There is nothing to keep them from swinging around. Then when you hit a high spot in the yard they will take out a chunk of sod.

Overall at this point I could not be happier with the trade.
My next project will be tilling my garden with a 60" King Kutter tiller. I will keep you updated.

chevy, when you are mowing on slopes do you use 4wd? When I went from the GT225 to a 4100, the larger tractor did have some issues climbing because I was so used to hook up and go (similar to plug and play). Once you determine the best combo of gearing, 4wd, with rpms, you will probvably get real satisfied with it.

Nuru,
I use 4wd on some of the slopes. I have so many areas were I have to make sharp turns that I can not use 4wd all of the time. I did mow a large area in high range. I ran the engine at a higher rpm. I never ran the 2210 at full PTO rpm because it took alot more fuel to run at that RPM. When I first mowed with the 2320, not thinking, I ran it at the same RPM as I had been running the 2210.
While mowing in high range I discovered another issue. When I bought the 2210 I had to change the seat suspension because the OEM suspension was too stiff. I put an X Series seat on the 2210. I an going to have to come up with somthing different on the 2320. I kept the X Series seat & will see if I can make it work.

this implies the 2320 is still bouncy even with bigger tires?

The area I mow was a pasture that I made a yard out of, so it is rough. Mowing in the yard around my house is smooth & the ride is ok. The seat on the 2320 is the same design as the 2210. They have 2 hard rubber cusions for spring. There is very little give in the seat suspension.

the majority of my yard was once pasture. I'm still debating if a roller would do any good or if they make a compact tractor with full four wheel independent coil spring and shocks suspension. (JUST KIDDING.) Or if a 2320 with larger tires would help. Or if I have to just get a box blade and level the whole 3 acres and start over. kidding. thanks. Why doesn't Deere make a better seat?

I wish I had an answer for that. With all of the complaints on the 2210/2305 seat I could not believe that JD used the same style seat on the 2320.

I had a 4100 and the seat did not bother me, but it was stiff. The 4310's seat is almost as comfortable as my car's leather seat, and it is quite comfortable.

My 4710 also rides as good as a car.
I got the Xseries seat mounted on the 2320 tonight. I will not get to try it out in the yard until it quits raining. I can tell from setting on it in the shop that the ride is going to be alot better.

Chevy , did the X seat set up higher than your stock seat . when i drove a X748 i did not like setting up real high. was it hard to adapt to the 2320?

Chris..:)
