Did it take the full 10 gallons, or something slightly more or less.

I bought 10 gallons. After filling the new filter, and then filling the tank to 1" on the dipstick, I have probably 3 pints or so left -- more than a quart, less than a half-gallon.

I'm assuming this was in the lines, cylinders, and pumps, since I jacked up the left side of the tractor and let it drain until it quit dripping...

I don't know very much about hydraulic oils and the like, however, from everything I've read, the Kubota hydraulic oil in supposed to be one of the best and I doubt that changing to some other brand will help the problem you are describing. May be better to investigate loading of the tension of your treadle pedal. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
