Used my new BX2360 to mow the yard for the first time yesterday. It has a 54 inch fine cut deck. Two years ago I had a BX25 with a 54 inch regular cut deck. The fine cut deck does seem to cut the clippings up smaller.I couldn't see any difference in the quality of cut as both decks give a very high quality cut IMO.I have a mulching kit for the deck but haven't tried it yet.I am thinking of trying the mulching blades with side discharge to see if that makes any difference. One small difference I noticed is the fine cut deck is very easy to hose off as the top is quite flat. This is not a big deal but it does make it more user friendly for cleanup.Another difference is the regular cut deck had double wide belts whereas the fine cut only has regular width belts. This could lead to the belts wearing out quicker but I am thinking they should last a long time.As far as RPM I usually run around 2600 to 2700.I know there is another thread here about this but that is where I like to run it.I find it quieter than WFO and I am happy with the cut.

I also have a BX2360 with the 54" fine cut deck and mulching kit. The cut is nice but mine leaves a line of grass clippings on the discharge side of the deck. I mow at 2700 and cut the grass at least once a week with the deck set at 3.5". I mow at a fairly slow pace as well. Not sure what the problem is. Tried a search but it doesnt seem like the fine cut deck with mulching kit is a very popular item so its been hard to determine if anyone else has the same problem.

Hey all,

Today was the first time using Jinny, BX2360 with 54" Fine Cut MMM with mulcher, to mow my yard.

I have my mower set at 3 inches at I am so very much impressed! This is the greatest most awesome mower I have ever used. The clippings are quite small.

Today was also the first time that I have ever operated Jinny with the FEL off. Removing the FEL makes Jinny, much more agile and it seems like she was made for mowing.

So yeah. I am quite sad that I only have 3/4 of an acre of land. So sad that I went next door to my buddy's place and asked if I could mow his lawn as well. I just wanted more seat time. I am very amazed at how fast the lawn got mowed... Grr.... I should have bought 20 acres in the middle of no where.

So yeah. All in all very impressed and I cant wait for next week to come.

~Kevin

Oh yeah 2550 RPM is where I mowed today.

Hey MJINPA,I haven't tried the mulching kit so I don't know much about how it performs.I have never had much luck with any mulching mower before as they have usually left big clumps of grass on my yard. The main reason I got the kit was for the blades as I usually use mulching blades with side discharge on all of my previous mowers.Just wondering if you have tried this and if so,how it worked. This is how I will probably use my deck.

kcender,

I think my next move is going to be taking off the block off plate for the discharge chute and seeing if that works. I dont get clumps but I leave a trail of grass clippings in a straight line on the discharge side of the deck. I'm thinking if I take the block off plate off it will just spread the clippings out instead of making a line.

MJINPA,just wondering how your mulching kit works. When I ordered the kit I was assuming there would be a plate of some sort to block off the chute that could be easily installed and removed. This is not how mine works. All I got was three mulching blades,a big piece of molded black plastic and a few nuts and bolts.Apparently this piece of molded plastic goes under the deck and is held in place with the nuts and bolts. Also the metal deflector bar by the chute has to be removed.Changing the deck from mulching to side discharge is more time consuming than I would have thought which is another reason I probably won't be using the mulcher.Does this sound similar to how your deck is set up?

kcender,

Interesting, I never really took a close look at the deck as it was dealer installed. I assumed that the there would be a block off plate like alot of mowers have. Just looked at it now and there is not a seperate removeable plate. It is exactly what you are describing, molded plastic around the inside of the deck. I might try bumping the rpm's up a bit and see if that does the trick. If not I might look into a different set of blades. Gator blades from oregon seem pretty popular.

All,

How are you all keeping the discharge chute folded up. One of the reasons I wanted the mulching kit is I dont like discharge chutes. They seem to interfere with the manuverability of my tractor. I would like to get close to objects on both sides of my tractor. Less planning and stop and go around CT potatoes.

I did not get any hardware with my mulching kit all I got was the plastic piece and the blades. Did I not get a bag of bolts? I just made due by using bolts originally attached to the fine cut deck.

That mulching kit must be a popular add on. I just tried to order one and Kubota has none at all until the middle of June. I ordered it for my 48" fine cut

So, any pix on fine cut vs normal? Or MMM vs non-MMM? Standard mower is just fine...
