Some "experts" have claimed that the Deere compacts and sub-compact are merely re-badged Yanmar tractors fully assembled overseas.
and some were.. don't think (??) any are now, but deals are made all the time between other countries where Deere wants (and has) a presence due to foreign markets and trade deals. Some of those deals include buying their products.
Was invited to the Augusta plant a couple times to meet with engineers through a dealer invitation to discuss new changes and customer input, included driving the new products and competition products at their experimental site. Was treated very well, I might say.
Also a trip through the Horicon plant on the same kind of deal.. That was during the time they were making a trade-off deal with Canadian firm Bombardier, but didn't last long as Bombardier was bought by another company and ended the deal with Deere.

Deals happen fast and it is hard to say 'who is on first" for any length of time.
