First Kubota repair in 14 years

My guess is the seal popped out due to pressure and then started spinning and it's now worn down some. Being slightly worn it goes in easy. If you have access to a precision tool I would measure the housing to make sure it's not worn some. Otherwise it could come back out much easier without something to help hold it in place. I would check your vent to make sure it's not plugged as you could push the other side with your fix.

I’d call that a permanent repair. That fix will probably outlive you. Good job OP.

OP here. I finally got around to pulling the axle. It's due for it's 600 hour service so I thought it was a good time to do it. The temporary fix I did 7 months ago held pretty good, but lately it started a slow seeping.

It took about an hour to disassemble it to this point. Now I have to pull the snap ring against the large bearing and the axle is supposed to slide out. Getting late and I'm tired so the rest of the work will wait until tomorrow.

Oh for the days of a couple of prick punch hits on the casing to hold a seal! lol

I tried to pull the bearing with my biggest puller and failed. I thought about using the press to push the axle through the bearing, but the wheel flange would not fit through the press apron. Nobody out here in the desert would touch it including a heavy diesel truck repair shop.

I had to take it to my Kubota dealer which unfortunately is 70 miles away. Because I live so far away, they took it right in. This is a small Kubota dealer and their service has always been stellar. When I told the service writer my situation he said let me get it from your truck and take it to the shop. I left to do some other things and when I returned the assembly was setting on the service counter. He stated that it didnt take that long so he charge me less than a hour. How many shops would do that these days. He then picked up the assembly and carried it back out to my truck. Before I left he shakes my hand and thanked me for my business.

One hour and $95 and all is well again
