I have owned the truck about one year and continue to be impressed by this motor. My truck is 2wd, 3.31 gear ratio. Daily driving, I average 25mpg. My dad and I went this weekend to pick up our 52 8N with loaded tires and 4ft bush-hog. The trip was 200 miles total. Averaged 17mpg. That was of course empty trailer one way. It towed very well, including climbing two steep bridges with ease.

Haven't done any serious towing like that but I too am impressed with my 2018 F-150 XLT SCAB 4x4 with 2.7EB and 3.55 axles. At least 20 MPG around town. Plus it will scoot when asked.

My 2016 F150 has the 3.5 Ecoboost; before I bought it I did a lot of research and I still keep up with the F150 forums pretty much daily. From what I gather, that 2.7 Ecoboost is probably the most dependable engine Ford puts in the F150s. People seem to universally love them. There's one guy on there who uses his truck as part of his job and his F150 with the 2.7 Ecoboost is now approaching 500,000 miles with only routine maintenance done to it.

4 years and 44000 trouble free miles on my F150, oil changes and tire rotations is all I've had to do to it. Overall average 20.9 mpg since I bought it new. But speed limit around here is 80 mph.

Being a Ford family (autoworker family), I think Ford pickups blow as far as general maintenance is concerned. Very difficult to get to common items like the oil dipstick, why I bought a new Chevy pickup truck, you can actually check the oil without climbing up on the fender and it has a V8 in it as well. Not impressed with a tiny motor with a hairdryer either.

Buying a dipstick with a truck attached is always a good method of selection.

And the ability of being able to park that chevy under any Ford is a big help if you want to keep it dry when it rains.

The EV people love to talk about how there's so many less moving parts but the fact of the matter is that any properly built engine these days is one of the most reliable parts of a vehicle. 200k is now the baseline. Anything less is unacceptable as long as the proper maintenance has been done. With modern oils pushing changing it out to 10k (or more) there's not a lot engines really need. When Ford first came out with the EB line I was wondering just how long they would last but it looks like they are up to the challenge.

On my 2.7EB I would wish for a florescent ring around the dip stick tube that I could see the hole in the shadows. The only difficulty in reaching is due to the size of the F-150. Larger than F-250's used to be.

Oil and air filters are easy to reach. The oil drain requires removal of a panel underneath. (4) bolts with 8mm hex heads. But the bayonet plastic plug comes out without tools.

Until it brakes, they you are screwed.
