To TBN Shanerbock. Did you just get the tractor? How many hours on it?

First off, an owner's manual will give you a lot of useful information and the API (American Petroleum Institute) ratings they recommend for your tractor's oil. CH-4 through CJ-4 are the current standards last I knew.

As to brand, any oil that meets those API ratings and is of the proper viscosity is fine. Personally, I use Shell Rotella 15w40. The ratings are marked on the bottle.

Oil filter brands are like Ford vs. Chevy, you'll get arguments from both sides. I've used NAPA/Wix on everything I've owned since I bought my first car in 1968. NAPA should have a cross reference that will tell you which number is right for your tractor.
