You want to talk about just plain luck - knock on wood, etc, etc. Who ever thinks to check on "filter change difficulties" when purchasing a new tractor.

The oil filter on my M6040 is tucked up and in a fairly tight location. I can still get a band filter wrench around it and quite easily install a new one.

I'd be pissed off, to no end, if it were something like RADIUM's situation.

I DO hope you find a good solution.

I just jam a large screwdriver through the case, let it pee out in a pan, lever it off and replace with a new one. easy-peasy.
