For some sad reason, that isn't all that uncommon in the tractor dealer world....and it can be any brand. On the morning of May 5th I called the LS and Kioti dealer that I bought my LS from, and said I was considering upgrading to something with a cab. I told them a friend of a friend was interested in buying my LS, so I needed ballpark prices on cab models to see if I was willing to spend the difference. "Oh sure, that's great, we'll work out some numbers and call you back."
Late afternoon on Friday May 8th I called back to see if they had any numbers. "Oh, the salesman is on vacation, what was he working on for you?" I told her, and a couple of hours later the owner called me back and asked what I was looking for a quote on. I told him, and he promised he'd get back to me early the following week. I still haven't gotten a call back from either of them....a month later.
This is a dealer that I bought a new tractor from 18mos ago, so they know I'm a serious buyer, but they're clowns so they lost a sale. They did something similar to another member here, so I guess it doesn't surprise me all that much.
If I buy a new tractor I think I'm going to stop by their yard on the way home (have to pass right by it) and ask them what they think of it....
It does not have to be that way. If you allow it those business practices will continue. You are talking about doing the right thing and getting it someplace else. One reason I bought where I bought from, that dealer wanted my business.
A few years ago I needed spindles replaced on the deck of the 650. I took the deck to (A) JD dealer, (bolts so bad did not even want to mess with it). After 2 weeks I stopped back by and was told they moved it to the back burner as all their lawn cutting businesses had started binging in their mowers for service. But my deck was here for two weeks I said. Yea, but parts took a week to come in and now these guys are here they have priority. I was here first, yes but you are only one job they come back every year. Ahh I see....I shall remember that when time to buy a new machine.
Fast forward about 4 years and I am at a farm show looking at John Deere 1 series machines up to 3 series. Talking to the sales puke....Yes I like the machines I will come out to your dealer...can I have your card. Oh you are at (X), never mind and I told the story. Sales puke says oh they don't do that anymore.....oh really now that you want $30k from me you don't do that....sorry, I don't think so, there are more then a few JD dealers around....sorry.
Show your approval with your wallet. Even if it is just a tad more expensive. I will reward good service....it is worth something. So many people shop on price alone....then gripe about quality or service. Get your tractor at walmart if that is what you want. (that day is coming)
