First post here, Ford 3000 ROPS

Hello everyone, first post here I've been lurking for a while, I figured I would join now since I have a reason too. Picked up a 1970 something Ford 3000 diesel(not my first tractor) today, along with a new Woods 5' bush hog. I started to buy a new Workmaster, but I just need a tractor to keep around for hoggin', and putting out a garden every year.. Plus I'd be afraid of scratching a new one anyways. :laughing:

I do have a question, the lack of ROPS on these older tractors is a concern of mine(my land is a little hilly), is there a company that makes them for older tractors?

check the calssifieds, want adds, craigslist, ebay, auction sites and local auctions.. scrap yards.. etc. they come up from time to time.

the last 3 ys I've bought and added rops to a tractor each year. all were auction/want add/craigslist finds.

i unfortunately don't know of anyone making new ones for that size of ford.

9n-2n-9n-naa-00/01/000 4 cyl series-2000/3000 3 cyl series all use the same rops. that rops also should fit fergy to/te 20 series.. probably 30 series and 35, plus MF 35/135 i *THINK*.

to best luck i have had is tractor salvage yards and look for them off of a 3600 since they was not an option on the 3000 when new but could be added after the 3600 series came out

G'day try Bare Co, I know they have some dealers over there and they do one for a 3000 here, also if they are selling into your market rhey will have made sure that it complies with the standards over there.

In their documentation they clearly say it is not OSHA compliant and it is "Hercules Certified" for whatever it is worth. they are designed to be energy absorbing ROPS so they will crush sum to absorb a turn over energy and need to be replaced upon an accident.

Not at all.. I just recall herc rops not being certified to work in the states.. that's all.

since in most cases here, a osha certified rops is required, especially if an employee is on a machine.. a herc rop would not work.. just don't see many of them here IMHO, due to that issue.

Oh well, I guess I'll keep looking. I know my neighbor has a 3600 that he added rops, and a canopy to, I will ask him where he got them. I know I looked at a 3000 that had them, but I didn't buy that tractor since the dealer was so far way. And I didn't even notice until they delivered it, but its a row crop tractor, so I guess it will be a lot more stable since the rear axles are wider than normal..
