First Purchase: 1023E vs 1025R PTO Power

Congrats on your purchase!! I'll bet you're really looking forward to getting and using your tractor!!

I will echo what Ralph and Geoff said about ground clearance with "ground engaging attachments". That was pointed out to me by the sales guy at my JD dealership. But for what you're doing, you'd probably never even think about that "limitation".

I have 5 acres that's infested with honeysuckle (honeysuckle is to me what kudzu is to you. :() and I wanted a tractor to help clear that crap out!! I started out looking at a used 1 series JD (a 1025, I think). A couple of people started giving me advice and I decided to start looking at tractors in the 2520 size. I ended up buying a used 3520! LOL! It's been a great tractor and I've been super satisfied with it.

Have fun and post up some pics when it arrives!!

The only limitation I have found with my 2305 (which is similar in size) is the ground clearance, but don't get me wrong, it's more than I expected. I'm sure you'll be happy with your purchase. Congratulations. btw I've found that an I-match gives just enough extra lift to pick up some of the attachments they say you cant lift.

I've had 2 dealer repairs done to the 1025. One was they didn't tighten the hose clamps enough at the factory. Thought it was maybe hydraulic fluid, as it leaked onto the power steering cylinder and was dripping from it. New antifreeze doesn't smell.

Other was throttle tensioner system. They finally replaced the washers and what not on the throttle lever. A couple washers were actually missing.

I love the iMatch, but why would it give you more lift? It puts the load 4 inches father back and weighs at least 50 pounds itself.

by making the lift arms longer it gives about 1 more inch of ground clearance to the implement, not much, but it's enough that a middle buster doesn't drag in my lawn when I don't want it to.

The 1025 has lots of 3ph lift, MUCH more than my 4010 had. If you put your attachments on castors or dollies, you won't need an iMatch.

Think the 1025 has more clearance than a 2305, too. It's probably near the same as what the 4010 had, which is about what the 2 series tractors have. The 4010/4110 series were pretty similar to today's 2 series.
