Re: First \'Real\' Tractor + A Question

hey docheb i just had to check your profile, thought you might be from my area in NH, but your not. the BB chain site you found on the web is just around the corner from me, at chappel tractor in milford. my hold down chains and binders, along with my lifting chains are from BB.

RonH,

Thank you for reposting the photo. Your angle iron support is what I was thinking about. It seemed to minimize the chance of bending the bucket with a center hook. Also, thanks for the heads up on the rolled edge weakness. I guess I was combining two different systems because I remember a fixed slip hook in the center. The idea was to allow a chain running up through the center slip hook to be hooked at the needed length on one of the side grab hooks.

RonH, now that you have lived with your hooks for awhile would you make them removable if you did it again? I don’t see where the hooks would be in my way and I think the rattling would bother me.

Mark
I would still make them removable.

I welded them in location so the front tip of hook was at edge of bucket. This gives me maximum lifting height. I figured it might mark the bucket but not bend lip./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I keep set of hooks in my toolbox.

They don't rattle unless I go over very rough ground. It has become a warning that I may be traveling to fast./w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif My tractor has a 4 cylinder engine which may cut down on vibration. Could be that my FEL Joy-stick is making to much noise to hear hook noise./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Re: First \'Real\' Tractor + A Question

What kind and size of round bar? I have the same problem with the std duty bucket on my TC25D.

Since I do not have a welder, I am going to have someone stop by with a portable unit and it'd be nice to have him do all the welding in one stop.

Thus far, I have him welding on 3 hooks and a bar underneath the lip. Anything else?

Re: First \'Real\' Tractor + A Question

Mike
My bucket requires a 1" OD. piece of steel tubing. You may require a different size.
Adding bar and hooks should give you good use of your FEL.
