( I wanted 3/4 hose and it is a lot higher, most places don't even carry it but i paid 40.00 a 100 ft. roll. Bought 5 rolls.
There has been a few plant closings but the work seems prtty strong, I have been fortunate to work in the same plant since I was 18 and not be laid off a day. Almost 24 years. Theres a lot of jobs available if people are willing to work them, my 17 year old had 3 but I made him quit 2 to concentrate on his schooling. I help anyone that I can that is need, Don't get me wrong but I see a lot of folk not working that could be but they don't wanna take a lower paying job. Sometimes you just have to take whats available. Minimum wage is better than nothing. There are jobs out there. Good work on your food project, as long as your heart is in the right place you can't go wrong.

I agree that there are many jobs out there... however... some peoples budgets are set up on their pay scale. People with children to feed, especially. Some of these people do take lower paying jobs to support the bills and their children but it's not enough when it comes to having food to eat when they have to pay tuition for schooling to get back into main stream pay for them to survive. Taking a lower paying job only may not be an option if they are to keep a roof over their head. Especially people that only owe a few years on their home to pay it off. You see I feel you have to take each case one at a time. We have people that will advise people how to keep theirself going as they continue to strive to get back into a paying job that will support their familys. Too many people try to put all these people in the same boat without looking at it case by case. Bad things happen to good people. You of all people should know this.

Are you questioning my integrity or doubting my intentions here? I would think as long as you have known me that you would know my heart is pure and my intentions are true to help people. Just like I helped you and your family find the truth of that horrifying night of your sons accident. I helped you clear his name and proved it beyond a shadow of a doubt to the Highway Patrol and the Community.

If I can't help a person... I surely won't hurt them. I will always try to help people in need, if I am capable of helping.

( Had to replant Okra, its not up yet. Cool nites was a killer )

Tony, your garden looks terrific. It's starting to remind me of the huge gardens we planted when I was young. We picked and sold thousands of dollars worth of produce over the summer. That was in the late '50s and early '60s, so you know our garden must have been big. Heck! I can remember picking gallons and gallons of blackberries and selling them for $1 per gallon. Wow! How times have changed. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Your okra will probably be a little slow like mine was, but as soon as that soil warms up, it will pop right out of the ground and keep growing. The attachment is a picture of my okra at 8 weeks.

Nice looking garden out there in Texas. My okra is slow and about 8 inches tall. It seems to be taking off now but is way behind because of the cold snap we had.

Times definately have changed. Most people nowadays don't want to fool with a garden and a lot of folk don't have time in their fast paced lives. You have some great lookin Okra, like they say , "everything in Texas is BIG". I planted some seed that the Okra was ordered from Texas years ago by an elderly lady near me. Its not the same as the Longhorn Okra we can buy at the seed store, It makes a huge stalk and the pods get very big and stay tender We save the seed from year to year. Most people around here pland the Longhorn and people who cant stand to pick okra because it makes them itch plants the Clemson Spineless, developed here by the local Clemson University. I dont like it because it gets hard very quick. If you don't pick it about every 2 days it is hard. I've seen pods of it hard and only a couple inches long. Good luck and happy gardening
