Like a Dummy, I was so excited about getting the first row planted I failed to get my work gloves and BOY! did I pay for it. It's ok.. the blood, sweat and tears will make it grow better. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

This waiting is nerve wrecking. I can't wait for them to get here and plow this "Truck Patch Garden". I know they will be here Monday morning but the time sure keeps dragging on.

It has given me time to plan the layout of the planting a little more, which should help with growing and harvesting.

Any suggestions on the harvesting and how I should distribute the food? Should I make a box with a little of each food in it or should I be more personal and find out if they can eat certain items. Some people have allergys and can not eat certain things.

I have contacted churches, local agriculture offices, county offices and such to get a list of more people. How many people do you think I can feed with my little "Truck Patch Garden"?

Just some of my questions on this project. Please any help, suggestions and guidance will be Greatly Appreciated.

Sincerely,

Jim Bonham & Family

IMO, you need to relax, take your medicine, and do a reality check with your plans and expectations. I have read much of what you have written, and am sorry your tractor broke and you have been obviously mistreated by a shrewd operator.

But I think, you need to begin to take a deep breath, and come to an understanding of what is realistic in your life. From what I read into what you are talking about, you are heading for planned 'failure' and a big disappointment. Feeding the masses with so little knowledge of what you are doing isn't going to accomplish your expectations, (again, it is just my opinion). I want to see you reach your goals. But it will only happen with good planning and common sense. God will support you but he won't cover your rear for poor planning. IMO. Take care, and God Bless.

Poor Planning? Anything specific? Please elaborate. I appreciate your opinion! You know why... this makes me work even harder to make this happen even if I am a "GreenHorn" at this. I don't think you know how determined I can be to make something I believe in.... become a reality. Thank you for your input. If you have any suggestions on how I could improve my planning... please feel free to share them.

I have made plans and I am working hard. This is one of the reasons why I am a member here. I know many people with more knowledge can help with their suggestions. Maybe even some have done what I am trying to do. I guess that means I am still in the planning process and learning process. NO I do NOT know it all.... but I am willing to learn. God would not have called me to do this if he didn't think I could do it. I think some where in some of my posts here I said I would have a "Sharp Learning Curve" and I am willing to learn. I have the Local Agriculture people working with me giving me instructions and guidance as well. No one else is even trying to help these people so anything I accomplish will be better than Nothing.

Thank you for your support!

Not my way. Just something I feel led to do. I will contact you by PM and maybe if you have something specific you want to tell me you will there. Thanks I appreciate all your help.

Jim, I wanted to take Beenthere's realism, common sense, and glass-half-empty-ness, and add blind faith, optomism, and unstoppableness. Keep working.

Thank you. You can bet I will Keep Working as long as God gives me the strength, wisdom and what ever he decides to provide, I will provide the labor... what smarts I have and pray for more. This is a good cause and even if I do not produce as much as I would like.... A Little Help is Better than No Help at all for these people.

Thanks for the Support.

( Ok Guys. I have wonderful news. There has been someone that has offered to donate their time and tractor to till my small Truck Patch Garden with a tiller.

A Huge Thanks to:

Heather and Gary

They are coming on Monday Sept. 5, 2005 Labor Day

They are taking some of their vacation to help me help others.

May God Bless Them and their Family's

I will post pictures as they plow the "Truck Patch Garden"

Again Thank you Heather & Gary for your help.

Hello All! An update on the plowing. I was about sure that a tiller would not be the tool to use to plow this newly cleared ground. After talking with Gary.... we have decided to do it with a scaffire. I didn't want him to damage his tiller or tractor. I am sure there are roots and rocks that need to be removed below the surface.

Do you think I made the right choice with using a scaffire?

Gary is coming tomorrow (Sept. 7, 2005). The window of opportunity for planting is closing fast. But I should be ok if I get it planted this week before the rain sets in from the tropical storm if it does.
