I made the mistake and sold my 2009 JD 5103MFWD in 2015 thinking I didn't need that big of a tractor after letting my buddy talk me out of it. I went and bought a JD3038e the next week and after couple months realized I had made a mistake. Needless to say that JD 3038e is no longer in my yard, I sold it first of the yr and have spent months researching and lot checking different brands before going with the LS XU6168, couldn't be happier with this tractor and the support from dealership. What ever brand tractor you buy make sure you have a reputable dealer who can take care of any major/minor maintenance that may come up. In my search for a tractor this yr I drove 1+hrs to 2 "dealers" that basically had no service department, they were selling tractors in there front yard and that left a question in my mind whether or not they would be here in 10yrs to service my tractors needs.

Jeffy,

FYI, it is impolite to criticize the format or manner in which a member posts. This is NOT a creative writing forum and this is not your naval correspondence course w/ Mrs Whats her face.

Regarding a post, we have two choices, read it OR Ignore it. Correcting said. post for grammer, spelling and sentence structure makes one appear superior, arrogant, and condescending, while making the poster feel unnecessarily self-conscious.

We need not be perfectionists to offer a point of view or opinion. Appreciate you deleted the questionable post, screenshot below.

Not sure if I was an offender of something or wrote something inappropriate but if so I surely meant no harm - I see something with searcyfarms on it in the url so just guessing something rubbed someone wrong - whatever the case my intent was definitely not to be a jerk so to whomever I offended I apologize.

Searcy,
Do not believe you owe ANY apologies. Someone was critical of the manner in which your post was written. As members we are free to post as we see fit. An opinion can be disputed but not how we choose to structure our opinions.

As noted, we are just plain folks, NOT perfectionists.

Rutman, that's a real dandy tractor. Very reliable, and with an understressed engine and drivetrain. Most had a 3 speed HST...maybe all did. Lots of good things are said about that model, a friend had one and was always raving about it. So what was your question?

If you find a clean low hour example of that particular model with good tires and the loader attachement your search could be over. It's small enough and probably inexpensive enough to beat anything on the SCUT market today.... and just big enough to do some real tractor work.

I agree with Scotty that would make a fine tractor if taken care of and decent hrs. , they were built between 2003 and 2008 . They are 30 hp with 23hp at pto . As for myself I wouldn't care if hst or manual trans. .They seem to run around $11,000 to $15,000 or in that area depending on condition and hrs.. If you get a good deal on it and take good care of it the resale will drop very little if any over the next few years . They have some listed on tractor house to give you an idea of value .

My only concern if you get near the $15,000 level that is not to far from say a new b2650 . A new 2650 with loader should be around $20,000 or maybe a little less even . I bet the price they are getting for some of the b7800's is pretty close to that when they were bought new . Tough decisions
