LS 4150HC
Hello, I am shopping around for my first tractor. Been looking at Deere, Kubota so far and the price for what you get kind of turned me off. Just looked at Kioti and LS today. What I have is just over 13 acres, only about 1.5 acres is grass that I will need to cut, that may increase to 2ish within the next year or two. The rest are somewhat thick cedar/hardwood mix. I'm wanting that all in one machine, meaning I want to be able to cut my grass, create a small garden and do random cleanup work with out needing to get a zero turn, tractor, etc. The Kioti I looked at was the NX4510CH, and I'm thinking that may be a little to big for what I need. The dealer offered 39k, that is tractor w/cab, loader, backhoe w/bucket, loaded tires. Add about 2k for 3rd function and a rear remote. This delear is about an 1.5 or maybe a little less away from me. The LS dealer, is only 15 mins away and has only been selling LS for about a year but they shop has been there for 20+ selling mahindra. This dealer offered priced me out a XR3135HC with loader, BH, 3rd function, rear wiper, for 32.5k, that obviously comes with 2 rear remotes also plus the other standard features of the LS cab models. He also said a XR4140HC with similar options would be about 2k more. I didn't get to see the 35hc they only had the non cab version and the 40c they had there was a shuttle but I did get to see the interior cab and such. Did not get test and LS yet but will this week.

Did test the Kioti and really do like it just not sure on the size. I initially started looking at 25hp models of deere and kubota so going to a 35hp is already a step up from what I thought I would need and a 40 or 45 is definitely a step up. Both these dealers the offers where their intial pricing for me so I'm sure there is some wiggle room there. I just don't know that I will need 40hp or larger. Also any advice on any other options I should have added. I like both. But I do like the LS in that I can get a 35hp tractor that is a little smaller frame in a deluxe cab, the deere 3033r was about 45k for similar options but with a MMM. The 40hc is weights abouat 800lbs more than the 35hc so will that effect usage since you're only getting 5hp more but gaining 800lb. Also those that have the 35 and 40hp LS tractors how happy are you, do you think a 40hp is to much for what my uses are? thanks

Brian

Welcome to TBN Brian....................................

Both packages seem like pretty good prices including the BH. I have the XR3037HC which is the model prior to the XR3135HC. Mine has the Shibaura engine while the 3100/4100 series will be an LS engine. If the extra 2K doesn't bother you go with the XR4140HC. Its more than you need but has 5 more HP, larger tires, and greater lift capacity on both the loader and 3 pt.
I would have bought an XR4040HC had there been one on the lot for the same reasons but I needed a tractor ASAP and didn't want to wait for one to be ordered. My 3037 is still 10 HP more than the previous tractor I sold and in the past 2 years has done any job asked of it.

For options I doubt you'll need the mid PTO unless you're going to add a front mount snow blower. A 3 pt blower is much cheaper if you don't mind driving in reverse.
A 6-7' rear mower will take care of mowing and is easier than a mid mount.

I added front hydraulics by running hoses from one rear remote along the frame to the front for my homemade QA power angle snow plow and for a hydraulic thumb on my forks (another good option to have). QA forks are readily available for about $500-550 online with free shipping. Adding hyd lines like I did will cost about $200. if you do it yourself. My hyd. thumb was about $600. or you can get a full grapple if you need one.

For a small garden you can rent a walk behind rototiller or buy a 5' 3 pt. mount for around $1500-2000. Depends on how much you'll use one.

I hope this gives you some ideas.

Thanks for the reply. One thing I'm curious about is the 3rd function. I don't mind spending the money to have one added but I don't see where LS has a factory 3rd function setup for the dealer to install. Everything seems to be aftermarket and I kind of want that factory look by getting some from the company that makes it. I don't remember seeing a spot on the joyestick to even put a button. Those that have a 3rd function or those that have ran the lines from one of the rear remotes can you post pics of what your setup looks like? I"m trying to avoid having the valve stick out in the open with some random button that looks like it was just screwed in type job. But if that's what I have to do then I may have no choice.

For mine I bought the hoses and fittings from my local TSC store. I used right angle fittings on the hoses and plugged them into one rear remote. The hoses are 1/2" hyd. hose zip tied along the frame and loader arms to the front. If I need that second port for use in the back I can unplug the hoses that go to the front. For using any front attachment I control it using the remote control lever to the right of the seat. I'm sure a dealer who has good hyd. mechanics can adapt an aftermarket 3rd function. They would have to replace the joystick handle with the aftermarket one that has switches / push buttons.

Thanks for the info. Are you able to tell me the width of 3037 from the widest part of the rear tires and the height from the highest part of the cab? They didn't have a 3135 cab model and I'm not sure if the 4140 is the same size. Trying to see if I would have room in my garage for one too.

I have R4's and rear tire width is 66" same as bucket width. In winter its a little wider with chains on.

Height to top of cab on mine is 90" (92" including an electronic amber strobe light I added). Another poster with an xr4155 stated his cab is 91" tall. I'd guess either the 3135 or 4140 cab models would be in the same range. You need at least an 8' high door opening.
My doors are 8'6" and 12' so no problem here.

A couple more things to add after purchase (or maybe have the dealer install before taking home) would be chain hooks on the bucket. I also added D ring tie downs and a HD twisted clevis on the draw bar for securing on trailer.

First of all from pricing over PA and OHIO, that's a great deal!
I just went through this same debate! IF you can swing it go with the 41 series. The GF who was heavily involved with the purchase as well, liked a little more room, and I am way bigger than her! They are ROBUST machines, and If you have a good dealer close by get some quotes but I will tell you that's a great price. I shopped 3 dealers just to see where the money was going to be. I had 2 dealers equal distance the one we chose was slightly higher but knew the product has been with LS in some form since 99 ish before they were branded LS. There are some great members here on the forum with LS machines. I will not have our unit until the end of the month but well worth the wait.

The 41 series is robust and impressive as you seen it. It is wider and heavier I can tell you that, I also liked the loader set up on the 41 better not that there was anything wrong with the 31. I have done weeks of pricing, and options and I had my Cab loaded with every option even radio !

ALSO FOR MOWING Go with a 3pt mounted finish mower, way better than a mid mount in my opinion.

Thanks, can you tell me what options you selected? Also what did you like better on the loader setup of the 41 vs the 31?

If I can figure out how to upload pics I will post them, otherwise PM me, with your email and I will send them to you. The 3135 had a strong loader, but from a unit sitting I seen where the water and debris will lay and RUST! Bothered me a lot. Not a big thing if you are aware to blow them out!
Also the ground clearance on the 41 is greater, and to be honest I have way less property than you do. We went big, but after sitting in both, the 41 was the way. I am a pretty stalky guy and the 31 just was a little cramped for me

Options:
Radio Kit (done by factory, not me tearing into it) Even know I could was easier
Interior Rear View mirror (dealer stated there were a few blind spots) was cheap
Sun visor inside
Rear Wiper (which one dealer told me did not exist)
Pallet Forks for Quick attach on the loader (not LS Brand) but a brand the dealer sold,
