The attached picture is the start of my first big dirt moving project with my new (to me) toy. The area in the foreground always filled with water when it rained. With a hard rain it would drain across our driveway, wash out the gravel and we would end up with a mud bog in the middle of the drive. The new ditch will allow it to drain into the big ditch next to the road instead of across the drive.

This is a closer view of my ditch, far from finished and right now it's too wet to do anything with. Sunday morning after a big rain on Saturday the whole area was covered with water. my ditch was also full because I hadn't yet cut it deep enough. I used the FEL approaching from the side to dig out channels that would allow the water to drain and this is what's left. Now I know how deep I need to go for good drainage. Once I get the ditch finished I am going to cut off the sides and make a gentle slope on both sides so I can mow it.
