So Ken, you were a tobacco farmer. Have you gotten out? I did, finally, after being in it all my life in one way or another. My folks on Dad's side were part owners of Thorpe-Greenville Tobacco Co.; the 'Greenville' part. But Dad & my uncle sold out in the late '80s, and I got out too. Better off, really. Granddaddy on Mom's side was a tobacco farmer; flue-cured around here y'know. My mother still had a tobacco allotment that she rented out until the gov't. offered the buyout program, which she took. My sister & I got the last of the payments after Mom died a few years ago, so we're completely away from it on both sides now. It was something while it lasted, though. Don't think we'll ever see anything again quite like the tobacco auction system, and all the activities surrounding it.

Welcome to the forum! Navigating on less-than-flat land does have somewhat of a learning curve, but it sounds like you're doing alright :)

Yep, so far, thanks. Steady as she goes, slowly when needed. Sometimes leaning over to one side helps, like on a sailboat. Glad I quit the alcohol years ago, that's bound to help :dance1:
